Video poker
Video poker, one hand at a time
You are dealt five cards, you choose which to keep, and the rest are replaced. The paytable on that machine sets the prize. The coupon rules decide whether the stake counts.
The order of a hand
Choose the stake first. You then receive five cards. Hold the cards you want to keep and draw replacements for the others. The final five cards are paid against the paytable printed on that game, which lists the return for a pair, two pair, three of a kind, a straight, a flush, a full house, four of a kind, a straight flush and a royal flush, or a shorter list if the variant pays fewer hands.
We did not find one official paytable covering every SilverSands video poker title. Do not assume a full-pay jacks-or-better table. Read the one on the screen before the first hand, and compare the return on a full house with the return on a flush. That gap tells you which variant you opened.
Holds that follow the paytable
Hold a made paying hand unless the draw can reach a higher line on that paytable at a price the table supports. Four cards to a royal flush are usually kept even when they mean breaking a low pair, on a standard jacks-or-better schedule, because the royal line is large relative to the pair. That guidance is general. If the paytable in front of you pays unusually little for the royal, or unusually much for a low pair, follow the table you can see.
A wild-card variant, such as a deuces game, changes which holds are correct. The presence of a wild symbol on the felt is the signal to stop and read that game's own hold chart rather than play it as jacks or better.
How coupons treat video poker
The sign-up terms put video poker on the exclusion list with the table games. Stakes do not clear the R8,888 playthrough. The R400 article counts video poker at half, the same rate as blackjack: R100 staked adds R50 to the target. It is a slow and restricted way to finish that coupon. Slots are the category left outside both of those limits, apart from the ten barred titles.
If you want to play video poker on its own terms, do it with withdrawable balance after the coupon is finished, so the hand is the point of the session rather than a partial contribution to a stake target.
Play one video poker hand
Read the paytable, hold to that table, and know whether the stake counts toward your coupon.
-
Read the paytable before you deal
Note what a full house pays compared with a flush, and whether deuces or other cards are wild. That identifies the variant. The operator did not publish a single paytable for every title.
-
Deal, then hold only what that table rewards
Keep made hands that the table pays, and keep strong draws such as four cards to a royal when the royal line is the dominant prize. Replace the other cards.
-
Check the coupon contribution
If a sign-up bonus is open, this stake does not count. If the R400 article's coupon is open, count only half the stake toward the target. Prefer slots while you are still clearing either offer.
